CES emphasis on this year’s program will be on wireless and mobility, wearables, the Internet of Things, health and fitness, 4k Ultra HD, sensors, 3D printing, automotive technology, Hi-Resolution [Audio], and Drones.

Every January [this year from Jan. 6 – 9, 2016] over 170,000 electronic enthusiast and those who thrive on the business of consumer technologies from over 140 countries, converge in Las Vegas, at the Las Vegas Convention and World Trade Center [LVCC] for the CES, an event that attracts over 35,000 exhibitors, with a conference program with at least 250 sessions, that include manufacturers, developers, and suppliers of consumer technology hardware, content, technology delivery systems, and more.
Among highlights of this year’s program include The C Space Keynote, presented by MediaLink, slated for 2 pm, Thur. – Jan. 7, at the Westgate Theater, that will include an exclusive interview with Steve Burke, CEO, NBCUniversal, moderated by Michael E. Kassan, chairman and CEO of MediaLink, immediately followed by a panel discussion moderated by Wenda Harris Millard, Pres. and CEO, MediaLink, with top media and marketing leaders, among them Lucian Grainge, Chair. and CEO of Universal Music Group [UMG], Peter Rice, Chair. and CEO, Fox Networks Group, John Stankey, CEO, Entertainment and Internet Services, AT&T, Alison Lewis, CMO, Johnson & Johnson, and Kristin Lemkau, CMO, JP Morgan Chase.
C Space will also host The Storytellers that include: Nick Cannon and representatives from major brands including Spotify, Rocket Fuel and Glenfiddich, Salesforce, AOL, LinkedIn and GE, Facebook, Pandora, Google and Yahoo. The program will begin on Tues. – Jan. 5, a day before the official start of CES, and will run through Thurs. – Jan. 7 at the ARIA.
According to the Consumer Technology Association [CTA], formerly the Consumer Electronics Association [CEA], who owns and produces the CES, emphasis on this year’s program among other things, will be on wireless and mobility, wearables, the Internet of Things, health and fitness, 4k Ultra HD, sensors, 3D printing, automotive technology, Hi-Resolution [Audio], and Drones.
The Unmanned Systems Marketplace, presented by AUVSI and located in the LVCC, South Hall 2, covers more than 25,000 net square feet of exhibit space, a 200 percent increase over the 2015 CES. Exhibitors including Yuneec, DJI, Squadrone Systems, and Hobbico, Inc. will showcase drone and unmanned technologies and initiatives that deliver innovations related to sports, travel, real estate, search and rescue, law enforcement and disaster relief.
“Drones have taken off in the marketplace and now represent one of the fastest growing tech categories – globally and on the CES show floor. This is truly life-changing technology that will create new jobs, improve lives and transform the way we do business,” expressed Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Technology Association [through a CTA Press Release].
According to CTA, the latest advancements in automotive technology will be a major theme at CES 2016, with more than 115 automotive tech companies and nine automakers debuting products. A show within a show, automotive exhibits will cover more than 200,000 net square feet of exhibit space, a 25 percent increase over the 2015 CES. The show will feature the hottest auto tech trends from parking assistance, collision avoidance and emergency braking to the latest in driverless, electric and energy-efficient vehicles.
Dr. Herbert Diess, Chairman, Board of Management, Volkswagen, keynote is scheduled for 8:30 pm, Tues. – Jan. 5 at the Cosmopolitan’s Chelsea Theater.
Sources at CTA have also revealed that, CES Tech West within the Sands Expo will host The Robotics Marketplace, presented by Robotics Trends. CES Tech West will also feature leading companies who are revolutionizing fitness and health, the Internet of Things, smart home and other high-growth technologies.
Mobile health market [expected to reach $26 billion by 2017] is another area bringing top luminaries in the field to CES, under its two-day conference, the Digital Health Summit, beginning on Thurs. – Jan 7, taking place at the Venetian, Lando room 4303, located on the 4th level. Among topics to be discussed are advancements in genomics, diagnostics, wearables, telehealth and more.
In another CTA announcement it was revealed that Federal Trade Commission [FTC] Chairwoman Edith Ramirez and Federal Communications Commission [FCC] Chairman Tom Wheeler will join Consumer Technology Association President and CEO Gary Shapiro for a SuperSession featuring two, 30-minute candid discussions on the enormous and exciting challenges they face as their agencies navigate the rapidly changing technological landscape. The SuperSession is scheduled for 11:30 am, Wed. – Jan. 6, 2016, at the Las Vegas Convention Center [LVCC], North Hall, Room N257.
Living in Digital Times will also produce the Last Gadget Standing Fri. – Jan. 8 [from 11:30 am – 1 pm] and Mobile Apps Showdown, taking place from 1:30 – 3 pm at CES Tech East, in the Las Vegas Convention and World Trade Center [LVCC], North Hall, Room N257.
For the marketing, advertising, content and entertainment communities, the CES, has an all-new show location [known] as the C Space at ARIA, were the Chief Digital Officer Forum [CDX] will take place at the Pinyon 7 [Level 1], from 9 am to 12:30 pm, however Reed Hasting, CEO, Netflix, will deliver his keynote Wed. – Jan 6, at the Venetian, Palazzo Ballroom [5th floor] beginning at 8:30 am.
On Wed.- Jan 6, at The Venetian, Level 4, Marcello 4404, the CES, will also host the 3D Printing Market Place, presented by TCT Magazine + Personalize, where the leaders in 3D printing industry will show how 3D printers are used for building prototypes in the medical, aerospace, engineering and automotive fields.

Besides the general public and show enthusiast, the CES, always attracts many celebrities, during the 2015 CES, John Legend, Swizz Beats, 50 Cents, Pharell Williams, Nick Cannon, and Shaquille O’neal, were among countless others spotted making their rounds throughout the showroom floor.
