If you’re looking to half smile, stifle a chuckle, or maybe offer a little “hmph” now and then, this detective spoof show is for you. After a long day at work, stacks of homework or babysitting your own kids all day, I recommend you sit down and watch an episode of Angie Tribeca.
The shows brainless humor can elicit some sort of positive physical response from the most uptight and tense individual. For an added deeper appreciation, inhale and watch it with a friend since laughter is contagious and so is “contact”. If anything the humor may loosen the lungs and prepare you for a heartier laugh down the line and from another show. What I was most impressed with was that every opportunity to play on words, was seized and mastered. Just when you begin to say “what about…” you may never finish your sentence because in the next moment the writers got that skit covered.
The literary injust was perfectly executed and Angie Tribeca’s (Rashida Jones) straight faced delivery was always appreciated. Enter her partner, Jay Geils (Hayes MacArthur) with whom she vehemently stated she did not need or want was proven to be her perfect match. (As partners in law enforcement go) Don’t worry, there was no romance, (or was there?) so no need to hide the children’s eyes.
No blood, no guts, a little vomit but overall a very clean series. Dead bodies? Eh. Dramatic deaths? So-so. The overall good/dumb humor leaves you clicking the remote power button half smiling from non-lethal endorphins, however, the second the screen clicks off, all your days stress comes flooding back and you remember why the hell you put on Angie Tribeca in the first place; for that 20 minute facial exercise and comedy lung warm up.
Overall my visual journey with Angie Tribeca, and her associates, had me screaming at the start of the episode and sighing at the end because all was well and more than well back at the precinct.
Bringing parody back to television are Executive producers Steve Carell (The Office, 40 Year Old Virgin) along with his wife and creative partner, Nancy Carell ( The Office, Seeking a Friend For the End of the World) who produce the series through their Carousel Television.
Settle down and enjoy Angie Tribeca for yourself. Which is set to launch a 25-hour binge-a-thon of commercial-free episodes on TBS starting this Sunday 9/8c
