“When I first encountered Skid Row my response was shock. My artistic response was Skid Rodeo Drive – an installation of 12 tents dressed in the luxury brands of Rodeo Drive and installed in the heart of Skid Row. It was a powerful piece that I’m building into an international artwork to share with the world. I couldn’t have done any of it without the support of the staff and volunteers of LA CAN. When I came to have my CXLA show at Tower Records, I wanted to try and give something back to them, so I worked with my friends at TELL.tv to create a limited-edition range of apparel and to donate the profits from all sales to the guys at LA CAN. We can all make a change. Please support me in supporting the people who make that change possible every single day.” Chemical X
“The Los Angeles Community Action Network (LA CAN) is in steadfast support of the work Chemical X continues to pursue in order to highlight the devastation caused by houselessness in Los Angeles. In L.A. 3-houseless people die on our streets per day, a fact that should marshal all the resources necessary to end this humanitarian crisis. Unfortunately, that urgency still has not reached those who need it most.”
Chemical X reminds us that art has no address and should be used to draw attention and action to a man-made crisis.”
Pete White, LA CAN, Founding Executive Director.
