Tuesday, September 10th, at the exclusive Penthouse venue space, SprayGround, the streetwear brand known for creating colorful creative designs, celebrated 9 years of success by hosting its first-ever runway show during New York Fashion Week.
For their debut runway show, the hip fashion brand collaborated with the iconic film ‘Fight Club’, to create a new collection of backpacks, luggage and apparel all inspired by the hit movie and designed by SprayGround founder and creative director David Ben David.
Founder and Creative Director, David Ben David, said: “One of my two favorite movies growing up was Fight Club. This film inspired and guided me to build a rebellious fashion-haus. SprayGround defies the odds and hurdles by being a brand that goes against the grain.
Adding to the excitement of the night was a surprise guest appearance of hip hop artist Rich The Kid. who strutted out on the runway to help debut the “SprayGround Fight Club” spring summer 2020 collection.
Best known for their urban backpack and accessory designs, they did not disappoint the crowd. This year they also included apparel – a new line for the company.
The show attracted a number of urban notables as well as fashionistas Tori Brixx, Arta Gee and Morgan O’Connor.
Staying true to the company ethos – one that doesn’t care about the status quo, but one that goes against the mainstream and designs with attitude, SprayGround pulled in all the stops, with this cultural collaboration.
“To me, Fight Club was all about self-expression and inspired me to follow my own path and not what society pushed me to do. It’s about creating a company that is the anti-corporate America and creating an ecosystem and a platform for creative individuals to express themselves. I want SprayGround to be known as a place where fashion, hair, skin, religion and tattoos aren’t frowned upon – anything goes!” said David Ben David.
