Bobbie Morrone has a polished style that could get people swooning, so listeners need to be careful when playing the great new album, Lonely St.
In the genre of the great vintage singers, but using the modern arrangements and tones of today’s sound, Morrone is capturing hearts.
Morrone’s voice blends the best of John Mayer with Death Cab for Cutie with a touch of Frank Sinatra for good measure.
The album opens with the song “Behind The Walls” and wraps with the title track, “Lonely St.” But once people hear this new album, Morrone and his band will be living on “Popular Street.”
But between the bookended stories of love, reside tunes that range from blues and jazz to earthy Americana.

Our favorites include the bluesy “Get By,” with a not-too-urgent cadence but puts out an energetic groove.
“Walk Away” pays respect to relationships and it’s a good lesson in keeping things cool. After all, why should anyone argue?
But our favorite, and the song that was selected as a pre-release video is ‘Whiskey and Water’
“Whiskey and Water” slows the pace with smooth piano, and theorizes on the hows and whys of love
Watch ‘Whiskey and Water’ here:
Morrone’s career started in 2007. He says his “favorite guilty pleasure playlist includes music like Beyonce’s ‘Love On Top.'”
The guys in the band are Morrone on guitar and vocals, Jordan Poortenga on bass and Isaac Vining on drums.
But the title track may be the true gem of the album.
“Lonely Street” sums up the whole record. It’s longing, complete with stark but precise guitar work and indicates that maybe there’s something out there that’s bigger than even our closest relationships.
Are creatives doomed to be alone all their lives? Perhaps there’s no need to worry about it as all the creative elements of the American culture are being ripped away anyway. But regardless, we all must find out who we really are or risk being another face in the crowd.
Overall the album is a pleasing collection of tunes that are well-crafted. The album is beautifully engineered, mixed and mastered.
