“SHELTER ME” – Allison Janney and Kristen Bell Share Heartwarming Stories About Benefits of Pet Adoption in New Series Premiering on KCET August

KCET, the nation’ s largest independent public television station, will air SHELTER ME, an inspiring series that celebrates the human-animal bond with uplifting stories about shelter pets. The series, with episodes featuring celebrity hosts Allison Janney (“Mom,” “The West Wing,” “Masters of Sex), and Kristen Bell (“Bad Moms,” “Frozen,” “Veronica Mars”), tells the stories of unlikely pet owners, from war veterans with PTSD to inmates learning to be empathetic whose lives have been changed forever after adopting shelter animals. SHELTER ME premieres Fri., Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. PT.

SHELTER ME “New Beginnings” – Fri., Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. PT

 

This episode, hosted by Allison Janney, will explore how Wings of Rescue — a group of volunteer pilots operating out of the Van Nuys Airport —  work to transport 105 shelter dogs from overcrowded Southern California shelters to safety in Idaho where adoptable dogs are highly valued. In another segment, dog trainer Aimee Sadler travels around the county teaching shelters how to host “play groups” with their dogs, changing how shelter dogs are perceived and adopted.

SHELTER ME “Hearts & Paws” – Fri., Sept 2 at 7 p.m. PT

This episode, hosted by actress Kristen Bell, features award-winning artist and creator of the popular “MUTTS” comic strip Patrick McDonnell. With a pen and sketchpad, McDonnell gets a close look inside Animal Care Centers of New York City (ACC) to find inspiring stories to share with his readers. The episode also introduces viewers to a look inside Cat Town Café, the first cat café in the country, which has partnered with Oakland Animal Services to provide a fun and innovative way to meet and adopt
shelter cats.
