Dru-Zak and Soul Records Launch The Shimmy Twist EP, CD

By Sheryl Aronson

On my trip back East to Camden, NJ, I caught up with Soul Record’s recording artist Dru-Zak, but this time on his home turf.   In May of 2015, I interviewed the vocalist because Soul Records had just released Druzak’s Shimmy Twist EP, CD.

Here are are some talking points from our interview today.  You can watch the entire interview by going to the new website: Soulrecordsllc.com/

“With music I get the opportunity to share with anyone in earshot my interpretation of a song.  I get to take someone on a musical journey, share with them my unique style of a song whether it be Pop, R&B, Soul, or Alternative.”

“The Shimmy Twist has been played for kids in schools and they just love it and can’t get enough of it.”

“The song Who Is She on my EP is about: sometimes we end up in a position that we see someone we want to be with but never have the opportunity to get to know them.”

Let Me In was written as a ballad.  It’s about how people play the game, let me hurt you before you hurt me.  The man in this song is trying to knock down her walls.”

Druzak is working on his next album which will be cover songs of artists like Bruno Mars, John Legend….and he plans on having more creative input into this record.  “I am collecting songs right now to record.”

Here is the article I wrote on Druzak back in May 2015.

The official launching of the Shimmy Twist EP recording of Dru-Zak on Soul Records has been released.

Despite the turbulent rain storm and tornado watches in the Southern New Jersey area where hundreds of thousands of people were without electricity, many fans still braved the elements and headed toward the Cherry Hill NJ, Craft House to pay homage to Dru-Zak on Wednesday evening, June 24th.  One of the employees at the Craft House said,  “I feel fortunate and honored to receive an autographed picture of Dru-Zak for my daughter who was so excited to know that Dru-Zak would be signing pictures and copies of his cool recordings.”

Among the guests for the show were DJ Pepper Paul, from Cursin’ 92.1 WVLT,  who has been a mobile DJ for more than 30 years in the South Jersey area plus his co- host rock and roll legend, Kenny Jeremiah of the Soul Survivors. Both men congratulated the young star Dru-Zak on his Soul Records CD release SHIMMY TWIST as well as broadcasted the performance for their radio listeners.

The Shimmy Twist EP, which consists of six songs, is becoming more poplar than the CD or albums that we are accustomed consisting of ten or twelve songs.  Along with the Shimmy Twist there are the other songs like Who Is She, Crazy, Look What You Did To Me ” and more great tunes.  The $5.99 EP is available today on Google Store, Amazon, and ITunes and now on Soul Record’s website: Soulrecordsllc.com.

There was some twisting going on that evening despite the bad weather and fans got what they came for…hearing Dru sing and dance the fun song.

An excited female fan commented on Dru-Zak’s performance, “ Dru-Zak is such a good entertainer and is making history by being the first new artist on the legendary Soul Records.  I had to come out for this. My family and I still have many Soul Records from back in the day when Berry Gordy and Motown owned the label. I will surely be purchasing them again now that the Soul Record’s label is back with new artists.  A lot of us have been waiting for good music just like this.”
