The formerly titled “Story of Your Life,” starring Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner will open in wide release by Paramount on Nov. 11, 2016 with the new title,“Arrival.”
This is the same film that took Cannes by storm back in 2014 when the studio won a wild rights auction for a whopping $20 million, earning it North American and China distribution rights.
“The Arrival” directed by Denis Villeneuve, will have Eric Heisserer ( Final Destination 5) writing the screenplay adaptation of the shorty story by Ted Chiang.
The story will revolve around Adams, playing an expert linguist who has been recruited by the military as an alien interpreter to determine whether a group of aliens that have crash-landing on Earth have come in peace or if they are here with hostile intentions. But there is a larger mystery to why they are here and the key to finding the answer is in Adam’s flashbacks.
Adams and Renner are joined by a stellar cast including Oscar winner Forest Whitaker (“The Last King of Scotland”) and Michael Stuhlbarg (“Boardwalk Empire”).
The movies producers are Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, Aaron Ryder and David Linde.
