Project Angel Food is at it again, winning over the hearts of Californians with their latest sponsor, celebrity hairstylist Chaz Dean and his four labs Hunter and Spencer(born 3/2/08) and Bella and Riley (born 8/16/13).
Showing up for a surprise visit at Chaz’s West Hollywood Salon, the Chaz Dean Studio, was one of the first stops for the Project Angel Food sponsored van. Prominently featuring Chaz with his four Angels, the Ford Transit Van is driven by Tim Troester, a full time driver for the cause for the past four years and also the lead singer of the country band The Groovy Rednecks. The van has been driven 15,000 miles a year on routes that cover Downtown to Mid-City and South LA to Long Beach. Chaz’s van is used to deliver 2,200 meals a week to 225 people living with critical illness.
In addition to being an enormously successful Celebrity Hairstylist and creator of WEN Hair & Body Care, Chaz Dean is a generous philanthropist who is heavily involved in the LGBTQ community. He is also the Presenting Sponsor for this years’ Angel Awards, the spectacular Annual Gala for Project Angel Food, on Saturday, August 19. Chaz’s busy schedule doesn’t always allow him to take as much time as he’d like to volunteer, so he donates to the causes that mean the most to him, the ones that provide day to day needs required to survive. Chaz said, “Most of us take for granted that we can quickly prepare a snack, breakfast, lunch, or dinner when we feel hungry. I can imagine asking for help is difficult, which is why Project Angel Food is so important. Many of the people Project Angel Food delivers to do not interact with anyone all day and the only people they see are the drivers. They form a friendship with them. The staff and volunteers play a major role in the mission as well. Not only do they prepare and pack all of the food, they also deliver to men, women and children who are in need, and form a personal connection with them that is everlasting.”
Chaz and his Angels are honored to be a part of the cause. He refers to his dogs as his Angels because they are not only pets, they are family and a vital role in his life, and the lives of his salon staff, clients and on QVC as well. People come from all over the world to visit the Chaz Dean Studio and the first question is “Where are the Angels?” When the opportunity arose to sponsor a van for Project Angel Food, he didn’t hesitate to step up. It was a perfect match. Discovering that his picture would appear on the back of the vehicle, Chaz wanted his Angels aligned with Project Angel Food too, hoping the image would put a smile on the faces of everyone who encounters it.
Chaz Dean Studio is located in the heart of West Hollywood and has a dedicated celebrity clientele including Brooke Shields, Angie Harmon, Rochelle Aytes, Ming-Na, Nicollette Sheridan and more. Although his primary focus is hair, Chaz is a skilled photographer with a studio above the salon. He has a genuine passion for helping others and is regularly involved with charitable events.
About Chaz Dean
A true pioneer in the hair care industry, WEN Hair & Body Care by Chaz Dean first debuted in November 2000 as a long-awaited, natural solution to a crowded marketplace of harmful and toxic options. Founded by celebrity hairstylist Chaz Dean, who set out to replace lather with a simple alternative. Enter the WEN Cleansing Conditioners, a 6-in-1 bottle replacement for shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, detangler, leave-in conditioner and shave cream. Designed to reverse shampoo’s drying, stripping, brittle, broken and overall damaging effects to the hair. Every product in the now vast WEN portfolio, spanning styling products, body care, fragrance, kids, mens and pet care, reflects Chaz’s philosophy that respecting the health and integrity of the body, from head to toe, is the foundation of true beauty. The products are made without the use of harsh detergents, chemicals, surfactants or sulfates, often found in ordinary shampoos, which combat the hair and strip it of its natural oils. Instead, each formulation contains a perfect blend of ingredients, including botanicals, oils and extracts that hydrate and cleanse, leaving hair looking and feeling healthy. Take it from over 40 million products sold, and worldwide universal results of newfound strength, moisture and manageability.
Project Angel Food has served the community tirelessly for twenty-eight years, providing more than
10.5 million meals to men and women living with critical illness. The kitchen, staff and volunteers prepare over 11,000 meals a week, free of charge, and medically tailored to the requirements of people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, kidney disease, congestive heart failure and diabetes. The mission is one of love, to feed and nourish the sick as they fight their battle. Many of the clients are living well below the poverty line and Project Angel Food is the lifeline, filling a vital need in all communities. The client base is testimony to this fact, 40% Latino, 30% African-American, 21% Caucasian, 5% Asian and
4% multiracial.
