Even though the 2019 CES does not officially start till Tues. – Jan. 8, it’s evident the Consumer Technology Association [CTA], who owns and produces the CES, is very appreciative of the coverage reporters, industry analysts, tech gurus, and writers give the event, by hosting the CES Unveiled Las Vegas – an exclusive industry analyst or member of the press event held Sun. – Jan. 6, at the Mandalay Bay Shorelines [Ballroom].
Companies such as Planet Computers Ltd., Remo Technology, Heatworks, Energysquare, Soundbrenner, E-vone and EyeQue, among countless others, including the 2019 CES Innovation Award Honorees, were eager to give the press a preview of their “latest innovations” ranging from robotics, wireless and mobility, wearables, the Internet of Things, health and fitness, 4k Ultra HD, sensors, 3D printing, and automotive technology.
Among five things [I chose] to write about is [first], a unique shoe by a French company named E-vone, which has created the “world’s first” pair of smart [stylish and fashionable] shoes with an electronic device located on the sole which detects a fall or lack of movement thanks to a motion sensing system.
“We created these shoes with the elderly in mind but honestly anyone can use them,” explained Vincent Quéré, CTO, E-Vone. “So when a person wears our shoes, many styles [of shoes or slippers] to choose from, inside the sole we placed sensors which detect if a person “per se” falls, it sends a signal to say a care giver or family member precise coordinates thanks to a built-in geolocation, and therefore assistance [or aid] can be provided to that person.”
With the social media, streaming, and podcasting taking off and everyone eager to create their own original content, Remo Technology, [a Shenzhen, China based company] created a “unique and very impressive” Obsbot tail, the World’s First Auto-Director [Artificial Intelligence] AI Camera.
“With built in premium hardware, a powerful application and a set of advanced algorithms empower Obsbot tail to track, record, and capture one’s movements into 4k/60fps UHD videos or capture 12M pictures, it [also] adopts a more stable and efficient three-axis gimbal with [patented] Extrasmooth technology to reduce jitter and therefore providing a smoother video shooting experience,” explained Felicity Wang, Manager –Marketing & Sales, Remo Technology [Remo-AI]. “Obsbot tail’s unique 360° lock-free gimbal [spins] and makes it possible to shoot in a creative and cinematic way ensuring “stable and smooth” tracking and shooting in [let’s say] low light environments, twisted postures, tricky angles, and [even] colorful backgrounds. Our 1850mAh battery [can also] give the user [up to] 180 minutes or two and a half hours of shooting time. The Kickstarter for Obsbot tail will begin Jan. 15th.”
As I walked around the ballroom a “real unique” mobile phone caught my [instant] attention due to “its size and keyboard,” built by Planet Computers Ltd., [out of London, UK].
“At CES [2019] we’re launching the Cosmo Communicator, it’s an all in pocket computer, mobile phone, and camera “all in one” device. It’s being built to be the communicator of the 21st century, we have a foldable device inside and when you open it — there’s a keyboard and a 6 inch screen, and when you close it, there’s an outside screen, so it’s a double screen device with a 24MP camera and two touch screens [essentially]. It’s very nice for productivity, so you can type on the move, it [also] takes great photos as well as having a great phone, [we feel] that’s kind of the new thing,” eloquently explained Dr. Janko Mrsic-Flogell, CEO, Planet Computers, Ltd. “We’re also [very] pleased to with the CES Innovation Awards we’ve won two years in row, last year with the Gemini PDA and this year with our Cosmo Communicator, the phone will [eventually] be available in the $799 [U.S. Dollar] range.”
As I continued to make my rounds, a motorized skateboard with [fluorescent type] LED lights in “the front and back of the board” also caught my attention. The skateboard or “impressive” Spectra Silver is made by Walnut Technology Ltd.
“This is our new Spectra Silver motorized skateboard, or the world’s first 3D [skateboard] with a posture control system to assist the rider control speed and turning by sensing the rider’s movements, it’s powered by a 4 hub all wheel drive motor with a top speed of 23 mph, it has a range of 20 miles and it can climb a 36% incline,” eloquently explained Daphne “Lulu” CAO, Commercial Assistant, Walnut Technology Ltd. “The motorized skateboard can be can be control three ways, [either or] by the rider itself through its 3D posture control with a built in AI system, through a hand held remote control, or [also] through our mobile phone eboard Go App with three functions for [either] beginners, Sport, or Pro. The skateboard “available now” will have a cost of $1399.00.”
The fifth and final thing I have decided to write about is a “very interesting and unique” 4-in-1 [smart music tool] watch built by Soundbrenner. Their Core watch is [one], a vibrating metronome one can program, [two] — it easily detaches off its hand strap to become a magnetic twist [guitar] tuner, [thirdly] — it’s “also” a decibel meter, and [fourthly], it’s just simply a “fashionable watch.”
