On Thursday, June 22nd, Face Forward held their 3rd Annual “Laugh It Forward” Fundraising Event at the Comedy Store on Sunset Boulevard. The event featured some of funniest comedians in Los Angeles like Lisa Ann Walter, Aisha Tyler, Amir K, Helen Hong, and much more.
All proceeds went towards helping victims of abuse to receive the treatment necessary for their recovery and healing journey. Face Forward’s mission is to provide support and reconstructive surgery for women, children, and men who have been victims of Domestic Violence, Human Trafficking or any Cruel Acts of Crime.
Deborah Alessi and her husband Dr. David Alessi are the founders of Face Forward. In an interview with The Hollywood 360 they told me, “We started Face Forward ten years ago. (Deborah Alessi) I am a survivor myself and my husband is an amazing plastic surgeon so when you put that together, I feel it is important to give back. What we do is rebuild the faces of women, children and men from around the Globe who are survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. We provide the airfare, the accommodations, the anesthesiologist, operating room, medicine, and nurse.”
Aisha Tyler, co-host of CBS’ Emmy-winning, “The Talk”/actress/stand-up comedian kicked the night off with a few minutes of very witty dialogue. She then turned it over to Lisa Ann Walter who acted as the host. Lisa Ann Walter kept the audience entertained with her ribald humor that she interweaved throughout the night as she introduced the other comedian’s routines. For the next few hours, laughter filled the room as each talented comedian gave their spiel.
The 3rd Annual “Laugh It Forward” Comedy Fundraising Event provided a lovely night of entertainment to raise money for an important cause.
