Aspiring Rappers Compete At Second Annual Freestyle 50 Challenge Sponsored by Verizon

On Tuesday , August 28,  Playhouse Nightclub in Hollywood hosted the Freestyle 50 Challenge finale. The competition was the product of a collaboration between Kevin Liles, co-founder of 300 Entertainment; super producer, London on da Track; and Verizon.

Aspiring rappers used the  hashtags #Freestyle50 and #Freestyle50Challenge, and asked to post a video of themselves on Instagram or Twitter,  freestyling  to Tee Grizzley’s song “No Effort”. The winner would walk away with a single record deal with 300 Entertainment ( Migos, Fetty Wap,), $10,000 in cash, and the chance to open up for a 300 Entertainment artist on tour.

There were over 9,000 submissions. Out of those submissions , eight finalists were selected to come out to LA for a star-studded finale.

The evening opened with Rapper OMB Peezy performing his hit “Lay Down”; and Redman hyping the crowd with his most classic hits.

The finalists battled it out in front of iconic judges and hosts that included Big Boy of Real 92.3, Sway Calloway and Smack White.

The Freestyle 50 competition winner was Y.K Supe of Chicago.
