On April 6th the audience was “swaying” the whole night long to Nils Jiptner and his 9 piece band as they turned out a tight set of music. It was time to hear Nils Jiptner’s newest CD – Play. And these veteran musicians indeed did play! Nils Jiptner, looking classy wearing a black custom jacket with musical notes on the lapel, led the way with his finesse on the guitar.
The crazy horns of sax, trumpet and trombone blasted hot and soulful accenting Nils’s original tunes. The pulsing rhythm section of bass, percussion and drums kept the beat going strong. Clydene Jackson furnished her expert playing on keys and backup vocals.
Nils performed some of his tunes off Play like “Sway,” “Coast to Coast” and “We Got Love.” Jiptner has created music that flows easily with catchy melodies and upbeat tempos. The crowd had a great time dancing and swaying all night long to (The Alley Cat – Nils Jiptner) magnetic and fireball playing. He chose superb musicians to deliver the goods.
