Del’s relevance felt during 2 Mundos Una Historia 6 [tour] Pico Rivera stop!

On Sun. – Aug. 12, Pico Rivera Sports Arena became the Southern California epicenter of Regional Mexican music for a day, as Del Entertainment brought [through predominately some its Del Records recording artists roster who were on the bill and performed], its annual and highly anticipated 2 Mundos Una Historia 6 [Spanish for 2 Worlds One History 6] concert.

It was a magical day full of surprises at the family friendly event that made “Del’s relevance felt,” as attendees and scheduled performers started to arrive early. One of those spotted taking photos and mingling with fans before the concert [and his scheduled performance] was non other than [Del Records] new comer Oscar Cortez who has been in the Regional Mexican music realm “spotlight” ever since the release of his [classic] hit single “Del Rojo,”  which features fellow label mates Lenin Ramirez, Ulices Chaidez, and Los Del Arroyo.

Without even a Del Records [released] single or video, the charismatic and talented Cheli Madrid [the latest addition to the Del Records roster] made her Del [Records] singing debut. During her performance Madrid surprise concert goers by bringing her mom on stage to sing and join her on a song.

After her performance Madrid walked around [throughout] the venue with family and friends enjoying the great food and drinks, while [at the same time] making herself accessible to her fans.

“I’m really proud to be representing women since I’m the only female performing today, also currently the only [female] singer on the Del Records [artist] roster, I feel humbly fortunate and blessed to be able to share the stage with greats like Gerardo Ortiz, Pancho Barraza, Regulo Caro, and T3r Elemento. This the beginning for me, and I really appreciate all the support I’m getting not just from the public [and my fans] but from Angel Del Villar and Del Records,” explained Madrid, adding that her album will be titled “Confidente,” and that Del Records plans on releasing two singles, one featuring fellow label mate Ulices Chaidezs before the [complete] album is released.

Amongst the most anticipated performances of the day was by Regulo Caro, an original Del [Records] roster veteran who has been part of the 2 Mundos Una Historia franchise since its inception, who returned this year for the sixth consecutive time. The [some what] shy Caro who now has a clothing line [and was wearing one of his shirts] beautifully worked the crowd while pausing between his “signature corridos” to sip on a cold [can of] Modelo beer on stage.

Kevin Ortiz [who many still refer to as plainly Gerardo Ortiz’s little brother] also proved that music and performing sometimes runs in the family, and that drive and persistence pays off. Ortiz who has released his music through [Gerardo’s] Bad Sin [Records] which is now distributed through Sony Music Latin, made perfect use of the entire stage while pausing from time to time to take selfie’s with [multiple] fans during his set.

It was however, evident that many concert goers across the board were there for social media phenomenon T3r Elemento, who are [now] also part of the Del [records] roster, and have become a house hold name ever since the release of their hit single “Rafa Caro,” a “narco corrido” [folk tale] in reference to Mexican drug lord Rafael Caro Quintero who worked in the 70s with Ernesto Fonseca Carillo known as “Don Neto” who was the leader [along with Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo]of Mexico’s first drug trafficking organization the Guadalajara Cartel.

“I drove from Hisperia [Ca.], just to bring my twelve-year old daughter [Melania] to this event so she can see her favorite [musical] group which is T3r Elemento,” explained Jose Luis Garcia Vasquez, 34, who explained it was the first time attending the 2 Mundos Una Historia concert.

“I feel happy, I’m really [really] excited to be here, T3r Elemento is my favorite group because I really love their music,” added Vasquez’s daughter Melania Garcia.

Co-headliner of the 2 Mundos Una Historia 6 [tour] Pancho Barraza also proved that his popularity has not diminished, as security around the stage had to work [extra] hard and non-stop trying to keep [female] fans off the stage trying to get to the veteran banda singer who is as popular “now” as he has always been.

Among many of the night’s highlights included a surprise [8th] RIAA Latin album platinum plaque presented by Del Records/Sony Music Latin exec’s to evening’s headliner Gerardo Ortiz’s [for Vol.1 of a double Volume Cd titled] Comere Callado Vol. 1, released through Del Record/Sony Music Latin on June 23, 2017.

With this feat [his 8th RIAA Latin album platinum plaque] and his magical performance, [Gerardo] Ortiz one more time proved and solidified [not only] his “musical stature,” but also Del’s own popularity and relevance!
