ALBERTA CROSS Announce “STRIPPED BACK” Tour Dates Throughout The US and Europe

SELECT US DATES WITH ERIKA WENNERSTORM FROM HEARTLESS BASTARDS PREMIERE OF “HEAVY WORDS” THE NEW VIDEO FROM ALBERTA CROS

Alberta Cross – led by lead singer and guitarist Petter Ericson Stakee – announced a “stripped back” tour with dates throughout the US and Europe. Starting September 26 Stakee will join Erika Wennerstrom (Heartless Bastards) on her solo US tour before he heads to Europe to headline a string of dates including shows in England, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, and Switzerland with more dates to be announced soon.  December will see him back in the US for a headline show at Music Hall of Williamsburg with the full band and Streets of Laredo opening. Alberta Cross recently concluded a headline tour of the US and Canada that included a few support shows for Joe Walsh at amphitheaters, playing Ringo’s birthday party in front of Capitol Records in Los Angeles, a month long tour with Heartless Bastards through North America, and opening for Eric Burdon at his two recent City Winery shows in New York City.

These new tour dates are announced with the release of a new video, “Heavy Words,” off of Alberta Cross’ acclaimed self-titled album (out now on Dine Alone Records). This black and white film was shot by William M.R. Kaner (who filmed Jay Z and Beyonce’s “on The Run” and Beyonce’s “Lemonade”) in a bare and industrial setting, which exemplifies the raw and stripped back sound fans can expect.

“This last tour was great, working as a six piece band, touring around the US, and getting to play with some legends like Joe Walsh, Ringo, and Eric Burdon along the way. It was grand and its got me even more excited to try something totally different and do these dates on my own, very stripped back but also kinda like a one man band with all the music instrument toys I’m bringing haha.”

The tour dates continue support their acclaimed self-titled album which was co-produced by Stakee and Claudius Mittendorfer (TemplesInterpol, and Johnny Marr). The LP captures new sonic elements for Alberta Cross. For the first time Stakee orchestrated and recorded broadening brass and string sections that were weaved throughout the 12-track offering, which help to beautifully capture the band’s timeless, alt-folk sound that is all their own.  “On this record, we have all these new colors,” Stakee continues. “It felt pretty amazing. It was very loose, not a lot of structure. I wanted to keep that vibe-the looseness and the soul. Mandolin, violin, French horn, flugelhorn, trumpet-we put those on a lot of tracks. That was a new thing for me and very inspiring. This record seems so… pure to me.” NPR, New York Times, Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, Paste and more have all highly-praise Stakee on the new musical direction.
